Dying to be Green

I woke up today and put on the Today show like I do every other morning.
But, this morning the current segment was a little disturbing as well as interesting. I would like to introduce the Ecopod...

The Ecopod is a revolutionary design in coffins made from naturally
hardened, 100% recycled paper. The time and consideration gone
into the concept and design of the Ecopod we feel has culminated in a
product with much to offer.

The idea of designing a coffin based on the shape of a seed pod with
its natural organic form was a starting point. The concept of a seed
being planted in the earth. The process of regeneration, and new life.

The idea of using recycled paper that would otherwise be discarded.
The idea of using color overlaid onto a beautiful shape, a shape that
was modern yet echoes back to Ancient Egypt.

The idea that some of us want more involvement in funerals. Maybe
we would like the opportunity to carry the coffin into the service.
Then this Ecopod coffin would have to be made in a way that was
easy for family/friends of different heights to carry. Conventionally
shaped coffins require six men, usually undertakers, of the same
height to carry the coffin on their shoulders.

All these objectives had to be considered in relation to providing a
coffin that was price compatible with orthodox coffins.
This was the task.
