Dumpling Festival

This past weekend I noticed my friends facebook status mentioning a dumpling festival in NYC.  I thought, why am I not there?  Apparently my good friends, Jen and Jeff, realized that I should be there too because a few hours later I got a phone call from them saying they were heading that way. So, I tagged along.

It was a rainy day so I pulled on my Hunter Wellies and headed out to brave the wet streets of New York.  Luckily, the festival was only a few blocks from my apartment at the Sara Delano Roosevelt Park, Houston and Christie. It was an easy walk.

The lines were long and everyone was soaked but the food was great! What an exciting thing to do.  There should be dumpling festivals in every city! Dumplings and pot stickers are probably in my top five "I could eat everyday" food categories. So, I highly enjoyed myself.

They even had the worlds largest whole wheat dumpling showcased in the center of the two tents. It was pretty impressive.

There were so many different kinds of dumplings from all over the world including Idli from India, Tamales from Mexico, Bao from China, Palitaw from the Phillipines, Gnocchi from Italy , Kuih Koci from Malaysia and..etc.

Even 11 month old Ty enjoyed all the different kinds of dumplings!

  1. I'm from the Philippines! :) Palitaw is best coated with shredded coconut and sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds and sugar mixture. Mmmm. :) I could make some for you! ;)
