Elle Decor August 2006

So, today is a good day. I am in a great mood and I just felt the need to brag a little more.  The past two posts have been about my recent visits to the Hampton's with my friend Jen.  I always express how beautiful and amazing her home is so finally I decided it was time to show you.

Some of you may have seen the August 2006 Elle Decor and some of you might not have. But, you should. So, I have decided to show you.

Jen's home did not only get an eight page spread, but it also graces the cover of the August 2006 Elle Decor.  This is where I spend my time relaxing in the Hampton's thanks to Jen.  Jealous?

Not only is she an amazing designer with great taste, she has some amazing pieces or furniture and art. I almost catch myself drooling when I walk into her home.

One of the best things about Jen is that we both have very similar taste.  I would describe our taste as mostly contemporary and masculine.  We both love grays, blacks, whites, browns, dark blues and dark greens. I can't express how many times we turn around in the office to show each other a piece of furniture, art or design which ends in Jen's trade mark expression "love, love, love!" It is great to work with someone who has so much in common with you in a design aspect.  She has also helped me open up my eyes to like things I never though I would.

One of my favorite things to do when I come to visit is ask where her pieces are from.  This woman has traveled the globe! I am so jealous.  Her pieces rang from Africa and Mexico to Armenia and Belgium plus many more.  I can never remember and am constantly asking.

I've even been lucky enough to inherit a piece or two from her wonderful collection which I have proudly displayed at the entrance of my little apartment.

Her two story home is on an amazing lot surrounded by woods.  It is so beautiful. I woke up one morning to a mother deer and her baby outside my window. She has may outdoor terraces including one off of the second floor Master Bedroom.

I have also been lucky enough to have had the chance to cook in her awesome Bulthaup Kitchen and dine in her beautiful Dining Room. One of my favorite features of her home is the Guest Bathroom, which is not shown in the spread.  Maybe if I remember, if I am lucky enough to visit again, I will snap a picture to show.  It is pretty fantastic!

I hope you enjoy the pictures just as much as I enjoy visiting.  I am very lucky to have such a great friend who has been gracious enough to share her home with me, even if it was only for two weekends!
