Italy: Venice

Welcome to Venice!
I think out of all the cities I was going to visit, it was Venice I was the most excited for. Purely for the fact that it's Venice and all you ever hear is how beautiful and amazing it is.

The train arrived in the late morning right on the island. No shuttle or taxi needed. Obviously no taxi! There are no cars on the island. Just vaporetto's, gondola's and boats! Oh my! It was a bumpy and exhausting, but quick, fifteen minute walk from the train station to A Venice Fish Hostel. Immediately outside the door, or I guess I could say before you cross the bridge (see picture below) I met three American girls. One, who happened to be staying at the hostel as well, is originally from Westchester! It's a small world.

After I checked in to the hostel and organized my things, I headed out to explore the beautiful city of Venice.

Here is a shot of Campo de la Maddalena, the little courtyard where the hostel is located.

Trying to get lost off the beaten path.

After I tried unsuccessfully to get lost in Venice (I have this weird sense of direction) I headed back to the hostel to socialize and relax. The hostel had a free and delicious pasta dinner which me and all my new friends partook in.

The next morning I had a reservation for a tour of the Torre dell'Orologio, Saint Marks Clock Tower. It was an amazing story and beautiful tower from the mechanics to the design.

During the tour we climbed all the way to the top of the clock tower and I was able to catch some great views.

After the clock tower tour I took a vaporetto over to Murano Island to take a tour of the Murano Glass Museum, Museo Vetrario.

After I walked around Murano for a little while and hopped back on a Vaporetto to Fondamente Nove and grabbed a quick lunch at Trattoria Pizzaria da Alvise. I wanted to try pasta and pizza in every city. It varied between lunch and dinners. I had spicy sausage and it was spicy! I almost ate the whole thing! I tried really hard!

Of course I needed something sweet! So, I grabbed some gelato on the way back to the hostel to check out and grab my bags. Back to Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia I went.

Ciao! Next stop, Florence! My favorite city!
