Fall in the Forks

I had a perfect fall weekend. Everything we did would be considered your typical fall event. We headed out to Sag Harbor Friday after work. After a wonderful dinner at Tutto Il Giorno we were so exhausted after the long week we both decided it was bedtime.

1 Dine at your favorite restaurant.

Jen took me to her favorite Italian trattoria in Sag Harbor. It was perfect for the evening and the food was divine.

I had the pesto pasta and Jen had the ricotta and granny smith apple ravioli. We also shared a delicious salad.

2 Cook breakfast at home.

The next morning we made a wonderful home cooked breakfast of breakfast burritos! I spent a good hour in the yard running around with Oliver. He was in heaven. Then we set out on our adventure to the North Fork for the day to indulge in wine tastings with friends.

3. Visit the North Fork with friends for a daily excursion of wine tastings at various vineyards.

The first vineyard we visited was Paumanok Winery. Jen's favorite wine of the day was a Sauvignon and Chardonnay blend from Paumanok Winery. I enjoyed a nice Merlot.

Getting a little sassy.

The second vineyard we visited was Shinn Estate Vineyard. Our wine tasting experience here was a little bit different than the first vineyard. At Shinn Estate Vineyard we had our own private room which included a tasting of five wines.

We also enjoyed a wonderful homemade lunch courtesy of a wonderful friend of Jen's! She made three different sandwiches, Roast Beef with some spicy and delicious sauce, Turkey, Avacado & Honey mustard and Prosciutto & Mozzarella. She also brought red and green grapes, kettle cooked chips and Tate's Chocolate Chip Cookies. My absolute favorite!!

Our final vineyard of the day was Bedell Cellers Winery. This vineyard was the largest and crowded. Not a bad crowded. They definitely had the space. There was a large outdoor deck which overlooked the vineyard and a sun room with included the tasting bar and a large seating section where a band was playing.

We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather. The day was amazing.

We headed back to the South Fork by way of the Shelter Island Ferry.

4 Indulge in a fatty meal after all that wine.

After drinking wine all day we all decided something greasy is what we all needed. We ate dinner back in Sag Harbor at the new burger restaurant LTBurger

5 Hit up the beach.

I didn't just sleep that night. I believe the right terminology would be pass out. I woke up to the little one pouncing on me with an expression that would make anyone want to laugh. Oliver and I took the little bug (that would be a car) to The Golden Pear and picked up breakfast for Miss Sleepy Pants upstairs. Then we hit the beach in Southampton.

Oliver ran sprints back and forth between both of us the entire time.

Sometime around here... my Mom got a phone call from which she thought would be me. Unexpectedly, it wasn't. Unless I inquired a French accent during my weekend away, but that wasn't the case. About this time, I realized my phone was missing from my shallow pocket. I guess I had bounced around too much and my lifeline went flying.

Luckily, I was prepared thanks to the iFound app for the iPhone. I wanted to put a password on my phone because I didn't want anyone to be able to have access to it. Then I realized, if they don't have access to it, they can't get into the address book to call Home, Mom or Dad. So I found the iFound app and added two phone numbers to call just in case of emergencies like this one.

That is how they called my Mom. During the conversation with my Mom, Jen called my phone to which the French woman told my Mom a Jen is calling and that is how I got my phone back. It was only missing for what probably was 15 minutes. But it still gave me a minor heart attack. I highly recommend this application!

Pick your own pumpkin at the local pumpkin patch.

After the beach we headed to the local pumpkin to pick our own pumpkins. We had this idea we would carve our pumpkins but after such an exhausting weekend, they managed to find their way  back to the city. It was still a great experience.

My pumpkin will get carved and there is no doubt you will see a picture of it on one of my many sites.  I hope everyone is falling in love with fall with year!

Thank you to my wonderful and amazing friend Jen for inviting me out for the weekend! I feel so spoiled and special! I love you!
