Kindred Kitchens

I have a love for Kitchens. Excuse my capitalizing of the K in Kitchen. It's a work thing.  When I lived at home with my family, our Kitchens were our hang out spaces. Everyone always accumulated in the Kitchen. Probably more for the fact that there was food at arms length and we are all pretty lazy lounging around watching TV than socializing with the parents. Other than that, I can't really think of a great reason. But, I find this is the case for most families.

People love to be around people especially when they are cooking. Over the years I have lived in many different styles of Kitchens from old fashioned to contemporary. My favorite is my parents current Kitchen, the contemporary one.

I found some other Kitchens I wouldn't mind gathering around a table or island and hanging out in.  Obviously, they are all contemporary and industrial. Just to my liking.

After examining the Kitchens for some time I realized they look completely different but give off a similar feel. The contemporary, rustic and industrial elements were blended to work with each other instead of against one another.

My favorite aspect within the photos is the use of multiple finishes such as stone, concrete and metal. They have multiple use of finishes and textures which makes up for the lack of color.

I'm also a big fan of light fixtures in Kitchens! Check out the fixtures above! Of course my favorite chandelier from Ochre is present! I just love when I find my favorite pieces while pursuing the internet.

  1. I love all of those kitchens. They all seem to have a very modern feel to them. The last one is probably my favorite because I really love rich, warm colors in a kitchen. Maybe one day I'll have a kitchen like that!

It is official, I totally find your blog so interesting and jam packed full of suggestions I can use! I liked the 1st and 3rd Kitchens the best. You are so right about kitchens being a place of activity and where people gathered the most. I like you find that food inspires conversation and closeness. I love having an area to lounge and just talk and enjoy each other's company.
