Cafe Gitane: NoLita

Last Saturday, after a grueling one and a half hour yoga class, where I successfully completed crow position for the first time, I enjoyed a nice steam and gossip with the girls, followed by brunch at Cafe Gitane.

I mentioned, a few months ago, that I had a lovely brunch at Cafe Gitane in the Jane Hotel and had also had dinner at the NoLita location, but never brunch. I don't know why it took me so long to get back to the NoLita Cafe Gitane for Brunch, it's so delicious! Not to mention three blocks from my apartment and Equinox! It might have something to do with the wait, there is always a long one! Especially when it gets warmer out, those outside tables are never available!

I've been on a recent health kick the past few months. Not for any particular reason except I feel better emotionally, physically and mentally. Plus, summer is creeping closer and closer and, after discovering NYC is a train ride away from a beach, I felt it was time to get into shape!

In conclusion my brunch and dinner outings have been quite boring when it comes time to share. Luckily, my friends are still indulging in the fatty goodness that NYC has to offer. Well, some of them.

I had the Hearts Of Palm, Avocado Orange And Endive Salad, Lemon, Olive Oil And Chili Flakes with grilled chicken. I don't know why the first letter of every word keeps Capitalizing and it is kind of bothering me.

Silvia went for the Orange Blossom Waffle topped with Strawberries, Blueberries and Bananas and Maple Syrup. Of course I had a taste. It was the perfect little sweet I needed.

Jen, aslo staying healthy, went with the Arugula, Marinated Beets, Apple And A Green Olive-Walnut Salad with toasted goat cheese croutons. now i dont know why it won't let me capitalize the first letter...

Jen also got a side of the Seven Grain Toast, which I have to say, was some of the best toast I'd ever had. It was very hearty and filling yet tasty! I could eat it completely plain without butter or jam. This toast is the same toast they serve their famous Avacado, Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, Chili Flake on. I still have yet to try it.

The next time I brunch at Cafe Gitane, I know exactly what I'm having. It looked so good I had to point it out to our server and ask what it was. Unfortunately, I didn't see this spectacularly dish in time and I had already ordered my salad. So, you bet next time I'm having the Spicy Organic Meatballs In Turmeric Tomato Sauce with boiled egg, cucumber-yogurt and cilantro. Um, yep. that would be it. and here we go again with the no caps.

Silvia, Jen and I spent the rest of the day walking around SoHo, the West Village, and Greenwich Village shopping with the dogs. It was a beautiful and perfect Saturday. I even got a new dress for Mary and Bryan's wedding at a cute little store on Cornelia Street and Bleeker! I can't wait to wear it!
