Bunkered Down

I've recently started a very exciting project in the Hamptons. Not only is the house going to be unbelievably amazing, it couldn't be more me. I love working on projects with a client who gets it; The design, the landscape, the layout, the furniture, the whole picture.

On top of everything else, I get to work on three children's bedrooms, their fabulous upstairs playroom, in which two walls consist of sliding doors that open up to their exterior playground, their sleepover bunk room and a home theater.

The only question left is, when can I move in? Maybe they'll let me design a room for myself. I'll take Guest Bedroom number one. Oh hell, I'll take one of the six Staff Rooms!

The past couple of days I've been researching bunk rooms and have come across some inspirational designs. I am looking forward to our end result. Until then, here are some of my favorite bunk rooms.

  2. I love pretty much every one of these rooms! One of my favorite bunk rooms was featured in the HGTV Dream Home in Vermont, did you see it? Here's a link: http://www.hgtv.com/dream_home/hgtv-dream-home-2011-ski-dorm-tour/index.html

  3. These are great! I especially love the ones where the beds are recessed into the walls. (I'm sure there's an actual design term for that, but I don't know it. Lol). Makes me want to get a bunk bed.

  4. Love the bunks with curtains so people can sleep at different times or with different amounts of light! Having kids with bunk beds, I know that a little shelf for glasses, phone, ipod, book is helpful. With electricity. And a light.
