Saturday morning, after a fun filled evening with my brother and the band, a sporadic trip to Park Slope and back to a cozy warm bed, Tess and I went to brunch. There was no set plan for brunch other than the fact we were having brunch. We talked about Rubirosa and Grey Dog, but before we could even make it that far down Mulberry Street before Balaboosta called for us.
I had never been to brunch at Balaboosta and actually, I had no idea they even served brunch until Thanksgiving weekend when my Dad decided to check out his favorite restaurants menu and mentioned brunch. I knew I would be back soon.
We were seated at one of the two tops close to the kitchen, and very close to the table next to us. We didn't seem to mind as both of us couldn't help but stare at our new friends food. When our server asked us if we knew what we would like, we both answered at the same time, we want what they're having, before glancing at the menu. And that's what we had, what they had.
Shakshouka: Moroccan baked Eggs in Spicy Tomato Cazuela, Spinach, Grilled Country Bread
Poached Eggs on Grilled Challah with Portobello, Corn & Fava Bean Fricasee, Saffron Aioli, Mixed Green Salad
Tess and I love to share, this way we get a little bit of everything. She's the perfect dining partner.
Our neighbors sure knew how to order. Everything was spectacular. Tess and I both agree that Balaboosta is one of our top favorite brunch spots!
I already know what I want on my next visit. Now, I just need to find a brunch partner who is willing to share, because I can't decide between these two delicious looking items! Who's hungry now?
Coconut Brioche French Toast stuffed with Cream Cheese and served with Stewed Strawberries.
Grilled Breakfast Pizza topped with Piave Cheese, Chorizo, Pickled Onions, and Sunny-Side Up Eggs.
