Even as an interior designer, sometimes you need to see what it looks like before you actually put it all together. Or, you can do it just for fun. I will admit, I had a lot of fun and apparently a lot of free time.
I would like to share with you, the rendered furniture plan of my new bedroom. Below the furniture plan, is the furniture guide with corresponding numbers. This way, you will know what each piece looks like. Hopefully, you can get the idea!
I have never actually measured out the room size, although I have confirmed that each of my existing pieces will fit where I would like to place them. Therefore, the dimensions might vary when I do actually move in. With that said, I didn't just make up dimensions, I based them off of experience, the sizes of my existing pieces and knowing they fit where I have them on the plan. I am interested to see how well I did when the time comes.
I have been updating the fifth floor up for six years and over that period of time, I have acquired some nice pieces of furniture. Unfortunately or fortunately, however you would like to look at it, I have two closets now, so I no longer need my fancy shelving unit from The Container Store. Sadly, the girl who has taken over the lease on my apartment, wasn't interested in buying it (why? I have no idea). Emma, who has no closets in her new room, will now inherit the fancy system.
This means, I got to purchase a new dresser! Did I want to spend the money? Unfortunately, no. But I needed a dresser so now, fortunately, I have the fancy new Wood Tiled 3-drawer dresser from West Elm.
My only other larger purchase for my new room is the Offset Bench, also from West Elm.
My room is rectangular and as you can see from the plan, it is narrow but very long. Therefore, I have plenty of room to add a storage piece at the end of my bed. Of course, I didn't like any of the benches with a larger storage capacity, so I went for one that had some.
The only thing missing now is the rug. As for the cowhide rug, nothing is set in stone. I just added it in for the moment to add some interest to the eye. I do love the way it looks, but I'm not exactly sure if this will be my final decision.
Everything else from my apartment will now be shared with my roommates between the Dining Room, Kitchen and Living Room. Ten more days and everything changes! Am I ready? Visually, it sure looks like it! Mentally? I'm not so sure! Wish me luck!
