Wedding Speech: One Year Anniversary

Andy & Jennie,

Congratulations on your first year of marriage and your new (little) beginnings to
come. I've been waiting a year to share my wedding speech. I hope you enjoy it as
much now as you did exactly one year ago today! Love you both!

Public speaking really isn't my thing. The first speech I gave in college, I said orgasm instead of organism.
But since it's my little brother and best friend, here we go...

I'd like to start by apologizing and saying this whole wedding thing is my fault.
It all started my Sophomore year in college, for selfish reasons really.
In order to get a boyfriend to go to a sorority date party with me, my brother also had to go.
I just had to find my brother a date. Lucky for me, I knew just the girl.
OSU Pom squad, blonde hair, fake tan, it couldn't get much better than that.
The hard part was making sure my shy introverted brother would actually talk to her.
I set up the first meeting, an MWK concert, at good ole Boston's.
Worked like a charm. After a little stalking, on Jennie's part of course, and some pep talks to Andy, eight years later, here we are.
I couldn't be happier. See, it's still all about me!

Jennie and Andy, you two were meant for each other. You're an inspiration to me, along with Mom and Dad. Can we get some hands together for 35 years together over there?

Andy, as different as we are, I respect and adore you for the grace you use to overcome each obstacle. Over the years you've grown and matured into such a giving, passionate and humbled soul. You are more talented than words and I am so honored and proud to be your sister. I cannot wait to see where you decide your life will take you and your beautiful new bride.

Jennie, my new sister, although we have been calling each other sisters forever, it is finally official. I don't even know how many times I've watched you write Jennie "Skib" over the years. You have blossomed into such a beautiful, funny and caring person who I respect and cherish. You complete Andy in more ways than you know. Not only do you support him, you push him to be a better person, the person we all know he can be. I thank you for that. You are such a stunning and radiant bride.

Anyway, I can't say anything too sweet or the waterworks will start. See look, crying...
I just want you both to know that I love you and can't wait for you to get more puppies for me to play with!

Love you guys!

  1. Happy Anniversary!! That was such a fun night, even though I was very preggo! Ha ha!! Love all my Skibs!

  2. That is a beautiful speech, Alexis. As a teacher, I give it an A! :)

Happy (belated) anniversary to Andy and Jennie!
